Over the years there has
been much teaching supporting the view that the Bible teaches men to stand in
awe and reverence before God and not to fear him. We are to love God and not fear him is the
idea. I John 4:18 seems to fully support
this line of thought for it reads:
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear,
because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in
love." (1 John 4:18 NKJV)
The problem is most of
us doubt having that perfect love John speaks of. Jesus said, "If you
love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15 NKJV) We generally know we have often not done a
very good job of doing that. So what
about the fear of God?
Here is a link to an
article written by man by the name of Dick Sztanyo that may help out at least a
little. I do not say it answers all
questions.
